Today, a Jackson County Grand Jury indicted Justin Ryan Trompeter, 24, of Trail, on charges stemming from several incidents involving domestic violence and child endangerment. Trompeter is wanted for two counts of second-degree child neglect, felony fourth-degree domestic violence assault, third-degree robbery, first-degree theft, harassment, and two counts of reckless endangerment.

Despite ongoing efforts by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies, Trompeter remains at large. If you have any information regarding his whereabouts, please contact ECSO Dispatch at (541) 776-7206. Trompeter is known to frequent Jacksonville, Shady Cove, Eagle Point, and Trail.

JCSO deputies initially sought Trompeter in connection with a February 7 domestic violence assault call, during which he fled the scene at a high speed with the children. On Friday, February 16, JCSO deputies received information that Trompeter was hiding with the children, aged 6 months and 1.5 years, deep in the surrounding Jacksonville woods.

Around 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 16, deputies located a vehicle at the top of Wagon Trail Drive. Despite approaching the car cautiously, Trompeter had already fled the scene. Deputies discovered the two young children abandoned and alone in the vehicle, potentially left unattended for up to two hours. Subsequent investigations uncovered suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine in the car.

Upon discovery, Mercy Flights medics assessed the children on-site before transferring them to Department of Human Services (DHS) personnel. Following the incident, the children received treatment at a local hospital and remain under DHS care. The case remains open and under investigation, with deputies pursuing additional leads.

Once again, if you have any information regarding Trompeter’s whereabouts, contact ECSO Dispatch at (541) 776-7206.
