Jacksonville, Oregon- In an afternoon operation, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies successfully rescued two infants who were abandoned by a wanted suspect, Justin Ryan Trompeter, 24, of Trail. Trompeter, sought for a litany of charges including fourth-degree domestic violence assault, third-degree robbery, first-degree theft, and reckless endangerment, has been on the run since an incident on February 7 in Shady Cove.
The events unfolded when JCSO deputies, in the midst of their search for Trompeter, stumbled upon a disturbing scene deep within the woods surrounding Jacksonville. At approximately 1:30 PM, authorities discovered a vehicle parked atop Wagon Trail Drive, with two young children – ages 6 months and 1.5 years – left alone inside. Trompeter had fled the area before deputies arrived, leaving the vulnerable children in peril.
Thankfully, quick action by law enforcement ensured the safety of the infants. The children were attended to by Mercy Flights medics and subsequently placed under the care of Department of Human Services (DHS) personnel for their protection.
However, the ordeal for Trompeter is far from over, as the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office intends to pursue additional charges of first and second-degree child neglect in light of these circumstances.
Residents are urged to remain report any sightings or information regarding Trompeter’s whereabouts to ECSO Dispatch at (541) 776-7206. It is noted that Trompeter is known to frequent the Shady Cove and Trail areas, heightening the importance of community cooperation in bringing him to justice.
