Medford Selected as Host City for NAIA CCC Soccer Championships

Medford, Oregon– Medford has been designated as the host city for the 2024 and 2025 NAIA Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) soccer championships, as confirmed by the conference office. This decision marks a significant milestone for the city, highlighting its commitment to fostering high-level collegiate sporting events.

“We are thrilled to bring our soccer championships to Medford, Oregon,” expressed CCC Commissioner Robert Cashell. “The comprehensive proposal from the City of Medford, Travel Medford, and the Southern Oregon Sports Commission very much demonstrated their commitment to attracting high-level collegiate sporting events to the area.”

The upcoming tournaments, scheduled for 2024 and 2025, will feature both men’s and women’s soccer conference championship matches. The games will take place at Medford’s Lithia & Driveway Fields, where sixteen teams will compete for the title and the opportunity to advance to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round.

Beginning on Sunday, Nov. 10, the 2024 tournaments will culminate on Thursday, Nov. 14, with all semifinals and championship games held at the 1,000-seat championship stadium, Gary H. Wheeler Field. Quarterfinal contests will unfold on Fields 11 and 13, conveniently adjacent to Wheeler Field.

Fans everywhere will have access to the action-packed tournament, as all games will be broadcast live by Table Rock Sports Network and available free of charge via YouTube.

“The City of Medford and our local partners are ecstatic to host this prestigious high-level college soccer tournament,” expressed Medford Parks and Recreation Director Rich Rosenthal. “We look forward to providing a first-class venue and a top-notch experience for both participants and spectators.”

Lithia & Driveway Fields, owned, managed, and maintained by the City of Medford, serve as a premier 15-field, 132-acre multi-purpose sports park. The complex boasts five lighted soccer fields, nine hardball fields, and a 2,000-seat baseball stadium.

Wheeler Field, alongside the adjacent soccer fields known as the “multi-sport complex,” underwent re-turfing in 2022, ensuring optimal playing conditions for athletes and accommodating simultaneous team practices throughout tournament week.

In a press release, organizers highlighted the city: Medford, with a population of 90,000, stands as the economic hub of southern Oregon. Nestled in the scenic Rogue Valley along Interstate 5, the city offers a favorable climate, boasting an average of 270 sunny days per year, including 21 in November, with an average high temperature of 53 degrees Fahrenheit.

“Bringing high-caliber events to the area is a priority of our multi-organizational partnership,” emphasized Travel Medford senior vice president T.J. Holmes. “Welcoming the CCC solidifies Medford’s identity as Your Sportsground™ due to the combination of our world-class venues such as Lithia & Driveway Fields and the abundance of activities for everyone to enjoy while visiting our destination.”

The relocation of the tournament to Medford marks a departure from its previous venue in the Eugene/Springfield area, where it had been held since 2015.
