Grants Pass, Oregon – The Grants Pass Police Department is actively pursuing Kelly Lynn Mason, a 48-year-old white male wanted in connection with a homicide that occurred on November 21, 2023. The suspect, considered armed and extremely dangerous, is the subject of an ongoing manhunt as law enforcement officials appeal to the public for assistance.
Mason, last known to reside in Josephine County, is described as approximately 5’11” tall, weighing around 200 lbs., with a bald head, brown eyes, and several tattoos. He was last seen driving a white Honda Accord 2-door with Oregon license plate 378PCG. In the interest of community safety, residents are advised to avoid approaching Mason and are urged to contact the Grants Pass Police Department or their local law enforcement agency immediately with any information on his whereabouts.
The pursuit of Mason stems from an incident on November 21, 2023, when the Grants Pass Police Department responded to gunshots in the 1400 block of Rogue River Highway. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim fatally shot and another severely beaten. The deceased victim, Katherine Crago, did not survive her injuries, while the male victim is expected to recover. The incident prompted a multi-agency manhunt, leading to the closure of Rogue River Highway.
A thorough three-week investigation by the Grants Pass Police Major Crimes Unit revealed the victims were targeted for a residential robbery, resulting in murder. Collaborative efforts with law enforcement partners led to the arrests of Sasha Marie Moe, Rick Eric Braton Lester, and Michael Fay Woodruff on charges including 2nd Degree Murder, Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, 1st Degree Robbery, 1st Degree Burglary, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and 2nd Degree Assault.
The collaborative effort involved the Grants Pass Police Department, Oregon State Police Major Crimes Unit, Oregon State Police Crime Lab, Josephine County District Attorney’s Office, Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, Rogue Area Drug Enforcement team, Southern Oregon High Tech Crime Lab, and the U.S. Marshals Service.
While emphasizing the importance of community safety, the Grants Pass Police Department assured the public that information is withheld only when there are legitimate safety reasons.
Currently, Mason’s whereabouts remain unknown, and the Grants Pass Police Department says they are refraining from disclosing further details to preserve the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
The community is urged to stay vigilant, and any information leading to the apprehension of Kelly Lynn Mason is crucial for ensuring public safety.
