Grants Pass Police On-Scene of Shooting Near Allen Creek Plaza

Grants Pass, Oregon– Earlier this morning, multiple law enforcement units rushed to the Allen Creek Shopping Plaza area. A witness, who chose to remain anonymous, informed Medford Alert that they heard “at least 20 gunshots” resonating through the shopping center parking lot.

According to a second witness, police and emergency personnel were focusing on an area near SW Allen Creek Drive and US199, that was covered by a yellow tarp.

The situation prompted the presence of Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) officials, who are currently on-site directing traffic. Several street closures have been implemented in the vicinity.

Nearby schools are also requesting parents to pick up their children after school, as bus routes are impacted from street closures

Medford Alert has requested additional information from the Grants Pass Police Department and is awaiting their response.

At this time, there is no perceived threat to the community. The witnesses accounts, while providing insight into the incident, leaves the complete circumstances surrounding the shooting unclear at this time.

1:45P UPDATE: Grants Pass Police confirmed that wanted suspect Kelly Lynn Mason fired at officers after a vehicle pursuit. His condition is unknown at this time.
