
Medford, Oregon- Severe thunderstorms rolling through southern Oregon Monday evening left tens of thousands of residents without power across Jackson and Josephine counties.
As of 8:10 p.m., approximately 22,000 Pacific Power customers were without electricity, including more than 15,000 in the Medford area, according to utility officials. The outages are attributed to heavy winds and lightning strikes associated with the storm system.
Pacific Power has dispatched multiple repair crews throughout the region to assess damage and restore service. The company currently estimates most outages will be resolved by 5:00 a.m. Tuesday.
Local officials urged residents to remain cautious and avoid downed power lines. Medford Alert is monitoring the situation and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
No injuries or major structural damage have been reported as of late Monday evening.
