Police Seek Missing Grants Pass Man With Alzheimer’s Disease

GRANTS PASS, Ore. (Sep. 4, 2026) — The Grants Pass Police Department is asking for the public’s help locating 74-year-old David Lee Sparks, who has been reported missing and endangered.

Police said Sparks was last seen at about 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at 195 Terry Lane in Grants Pass. He had asked a relative for gas money for his truck but did not return home. Family members became concerned when he had not returned by about 5:30 p.m.

Sparks has Alzheimer’s disease and is currently without his required medication, police said. He also experiences rapid memory loss, increasing the urgency of locating him.

Sparks is described as 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighing about 132 pounds. He has shoulder-length gray hair, a long gray beard and wears metal-frame bifocal glasses. He is commonly seen wearing an American flag cowboy hat, suspenders and blue jeans.

Police said Sparks may be traveling in a 2004 light gray Ford F-150 extended-cab pickup with Oregon license plate 475 BJH.

Anyone who has seen Sparks or has information about his whereabouts is asked to immediately contact the Grants Pass Police Department at 541-450-6260. Anyone who believes Sparks is in immediate danger should call 911.
