
Medford, Oregon- A portion of Oregon Highway 238 is closed west of Medford due to downed utility lines, as severe thunderstorms continue to impact southwest Oregon.
The Oregon Department of Transportation reported the closure at milepost 36.2 near the intersection of Rossanley Road and Hanley Road, approximately two miles west of the city. Officials warn that the closure may be extended due to the nature of the damage.
Travelers are urged to avoid unnecessary travel in the region as thunderstorms remain active, increasing the risk of additional hazards including fallen trees, debris, and more downed lines.
ODOT crews are responding to the scene, but there is currently no estimated time for reopening. Authorities recommend checking tripcheck.com for the latest road conditions and updates.
7/8/25 AM UPDATE: The closure of OR-238 west of Medford has been extended from Ross Lane to West Main Street. Utility crews estimate the closure will continue for two days due to extensive storm damage. Follow detour signs or use an alternate route. Use caution; watch for workers in the area.
