Breast Cancer Survivors to Throw First Pitch at Rogues’ Paint the Park Pink Night

Medford, Oregon- Two breast cancer survivors will take center stage next weekend to throw the ceremonial first pitch as part of the Medford Rogues’ annual Paint the Park Pink night.

Chris Brinegar and Adrienne Wells will share the mound at the June 7 event, which raises awareness and funds for the Providence Leila J. Eisenstein Breast Center. Rogues players will don pink jerseys, and fans are encouraged to wear their brightest pink in solidarity.

Brinegar is part of a rare statistic: one of approximately 1 in 1,000 men diagnosed with breast cancer. After noticing a small lump, he was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma. A strong family history of the disease led to further genetic testing, where he learned he carries the BRCA2 mutation. He now uses his voice to stress the importance of understanding family history and recognizing symptoms in men.

Wells discovered her invasive and aggressive breast cancer during a routine mammogram in August 2024. Still undergoing treatment, she credits her medical team with giving her the determination to fight. “We can fight this and we can cure this,” she recalled her doctor telling her at the time of diagnosis.

The Paint the Park Pink event has become a community staple, blending America’s pastime with a powerful message. Fans, survivors, and families gather to honor those affected by breast cancer and to support ongoing care and research.
