Josephine County Man Charged After ATV Crash Leaves Two Children Injured

WILLIAMS, Ore. (Jun. 10, 2026) — A Williams man is facing multiple criminal charges after authorities say he drove an all-terrain vehicle while intoxicated and crashed with two juvenile passengers aboard, injuring all three riders.

According to the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 7:41 p.m. on June 4 to a reported traffic crash in the 1000 block of Caves Camp Road in Williams.

Investigators determined that Timothy Cornia, 43, was operating a quad ATV when he left the roadway, struck a tree and came to rest in nearby blackberry bushes. Two juveniles were riding on the ATV with Cornia at the time of the crash.

Authorities said none of the three occupants were wearing helmets.

All three riders sustained physical injuries and were transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Hospital staff later reported that Cornia appeared to be intoxicated, according to the sheriff’s office. Following the investigation, the case was forwarded to the Josephine County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

Cornia faces charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, two counts of reckless endangering and two counts of third-degree assault.

The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office reminded the public about the dangers of impaired driving and urged motorists to make responsible decisions behind the wheel. Officials also emphasized the importance of wearing helmets while operating or riding all-terrain vehicles.

Under Oregon law, third-degree assault is generally charged when a person recklessly causes serious physical injury to another person or causes injury under circumstances involving a deadly or dangerous weapon.

The incident remains under review by prosecutors.
