Suspect in 18 Child Sex Crimes Arrested After Standoff in South Medford

MEDFORD, Ore. (Apr. 2, 2026) — A Medford man wanted on 18 counts of child sex crimes was taken into custody Thursday following an hours-long standoff with law enforcement in south Medford, authorities said.

Members of the Southern Oregon Child Exploitation Team and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office arrested Glenn Edward Rise, 38, at a residence in the 3400 block of South Pacific Highway on April 2. Rise had barricaded himself inside the home before being taken into custody, officials said.

The investigation and arrest involved multiple agencies, including the Oregon Department of Justice Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the Medford Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations.

Rise is charged with 18 child sex crimes, including first-degree rape and first-degree sexual abuse. Additional charges include two counts of first-degree unlawful sexual penetration, three counts of using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct, three counts of first-degree encouraging child sexual abuse, and eight counts of second-degree encouraging child sexual abuse. He is being held in the Jackson County Jail.

Authorities said the case began when investigators with SOCET received images of child sexual abuse material allegedly sent by Rise to undercover investigators. The information led to subpoenas and the execution of a search warrant at the residence.

The Southern Oregon High Tech Crimes Task Force assisted with the investigation, conducting forensic examinations of digital devices seized during the search. Investigators said they discovered evidence documenting the sexual abuse of a local minor child, along with hundreds of images of child sexual abuse material.

SOCET, established in June 2020, is a multi-agency task force dedicated to combating child exploitation. It includes investigators from local, state and federal agencies, as well as prosecutors working in Jackson County. The Southern Oregon High Tech Crimes Task Force is also a collaborative effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies focused on digital and technology-related crimes.

Officials said no further information is being released at this time.
