ROSEBURG, Ore. (Jan. 28, 2026) — A traffic stop on Interstate 5 south of Roseburg led to the seizure of 11 pounds of cocaine and $24,000 in cash, Oregon State Police said.
A trooper stopped a vehicle around 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026, near milepost 153 for a traffic violation. During the stop, the trooper learned the car had been rented by an unknown third party who was not present, and neither of the two occupants had a valid driver’s license, police said.
Suspicious of possible criminal activity, the trooper requested a drug-detection K-9 unit. The dog alerted to the exterior of the vehicle, and a subsequent search uncovered the cocaine and currency, authorities said.
The case was referred to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
The stop was conducted as part of the Oregon State Police Domestic Highway Enforcement Initiative, which is supported by the Oregon-Idaho High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area program, a federally funded effort coordinated by the Office of National Drug Control Policy.
