MEDFORD, Ore. (Jan. 27, 2026) — Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford and Three Rivers Medical Center in Grants Pass have been named to Forbes’ Top Hospitals 2026 list, placing both facilities among a select group nationwide recognized for performance, patient outcomes and care quality, officials said Tuesday.
According to Forbes, the rating system evaluates general acute care hospitals across the United States to provide consumers with unbiased information about which facilities deliver high-quality, high-value medical services, while also allowing hospitals to compare their performance with peers.
“As a non-profit health care provider for our rural communities, we are grateful for the high honor of this recognition. The skilled, compassionate work happening daily in our hospitals is evident. We are committed to this excellence and appreciate each member of our team’s commitment,” said Patrick Sharp, CEO of Three Rivers Medical Center.
The rankings were developed with input from health care measurement experts, including clinicians, scientists, health policy researchers and patient advocates, and in partnership with health data analytics firm Inovalon. The methodology is based on validated data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ Provider Data Catalog and focuses on measures of patient outcomes, hospital best practices, value and patient experience.
Clinical patient outcomes — including rates of mortality, survival, infection and readmissions — were weighted most heavily in the analysis, Forbes said. The results were also adjusted for social drivers of health, such as socioeconomic factors and access to care, to allow for more consistent comparisons among hospitals serving different populations.
About 5,400 general acute care hospitals nationwide were initially eligible for consideration, with roughly 2,600 meeting inclusion criteria. Of those, 259 hospitals were recognized as five-star honorees, including Rogue Regional and Three Rivers.
“This honor is about the people who work here, sharing their talents, time and energy. They are passionate about providing the best care. We are proud of their achievements, and this honor reflects that hard work,” said Jon Cooper, CEO of Rogue Regional Medical Center.
Both hospitals are part of Asante, a locally owned and governed nonprofit health system serving communities across southern Oregon and northern California. Asante is the region’s largest health care provider and employer, delivering comprehensive medical care to approximately 600,000 people.
Rogue Regional Medical Center is a tertiary regional referral hospital and Level II trauma center, offering services that include heart, vascular and stroke care, women’s and children’s services, cancer care, orthopedics and gastroenterology.
Three Rivers Medical Center is a full-service community hospital recognized for surgical services, outpatient surgery, cancer care, women’s health and childbirth services.
Asante’s system also includes Ashland Community Hospital, Asante Physician Partners and additional medical facilities throughout the region.
