Medford, Oregon- The National Weather Service in Medford has issued a Frost Advisory for the early morning hours of Monday, warning residents across the Rogue, Applegate, and Illinois valleys to prepare for temperatures dipping near freezing.
The advisory is in effect from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. PDT Monday, with temperatures expected to fall between 32 and 35 degrees, potentially leading to frost formation.
The affected area includes Cave Junction, Selma, Applegate, Ruch, Jacksonville, Ashland, and outlying communities around Medford and Grants Pass, such as Eagle Point and Shady Cove.
Forecasters noted that cloud cover or fog may limit frost in some areas, particularly around Medford and Grants Pass. However, the National Weather Service said the probability of frost is 50% or greater across much of the region.
The agency urged residents to take precautions to protect sensitive outdoor vegetation, warning that unprotected plants could be damaged or killed if left uncovered.
“Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold,” the Weather Service said in its advisory.
The notice marks one of the first frost events of the season for southwest Oregon, coming just days after the end of fire season in Jackson and Josephine counties.
