Evacuation Warning Issued Near Mt. Shasta as Spring Wildfire Grows

Mt, Shasta, California– Authorities issued an evacuation warning Monday for Zone MTS-6155 in the Mt. Shasta area due to a fast-moving vegetation fire, dubbed the Spring Fire, burning on Spring Hill.

The Mt. Shasta Police Department urged residents in the affected zone to prepare to evacuate, citing a potential threat to life and property. Officials advised individuals requiring extra time to evacuate—especially those with pets or livestock—to leave the area immediately.

CAL FIRE is assisting the Mount Shasta Fire Department in battling the blaze, which has charred between 5 and 7 acres of timber and brush. Crews are working to contain the fire as dry conditions and dense vegetation fuel its spread.

Medford Alert will continue to monitor this wildfire and provide updates as they become available.

UPDATE: According to CAL FIRE, the wildfire is up to 12 acres and 10% containment. “Numerous firefighting air tankers from throughout the State are flying fire suppression missions as conditions allow” according to the agency. 174 structures are currently threatened, as a crew of 60 fire personnel work the incident.

UPDATE: All evacuation warnings have been lifted. Forward progress of the fire has been stopped and current containment is at 30%.
