Medford, Oregon- Rogue Credit Union and Members 1st Credit Union have announced their intent to merge, combining their operations to create a stronger financial institution poised to enhance member value and community impact. The merger, pending regulatory and membership approval, is expected to be finalized in 2026.
The combined credit union will have approximately $4 billion in assets and serve 236,000 members through a network of 28 full-service branches across Oregon and California. The merger has received unanimous approval from the Boards of Directors of both credit unions and is subject to approval from the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), state regulators in Oregon and California, and the Members 1st membership.
“We are beyond excited to be able to embark on this journey with a trusted partner,” said Matt Stephenson, President and CEO of Rogue Credit Union. “This partnership will allow us to provide a greater opportunity to serve more members, offering expanded resources and enhanced services – all while preserving the local, hometown feel that members value.”
Both credit unions have roots in serving state employees and share a history of community involvement. In their early days, each operated from a single desk—one at a local school and the other at a Department of Transportation office. Over time, both institutions grew significantly and now seek to leverage their combined strengths through this partnership.
Ken Reed, Board Chair of Members 1st Credit Union, said the merger will benefit members by expanding choices and improving services. “We are excited about this opportunity to partner with one of the top-performing credit unions in the nation,” Reed said. “This will give our members more choices and improved benefits of membership. Rogue is deeply committed to the communities they serve and will retain the same level of dedication to the Members 1st communities.”
The combined credit union will maintain all current branch locations and preserve employment for all team members in good standing. Leadership from both institutions emphasized their commitment to a smooth transition and continuity of service.
Members 1st Credit Union is headquartered in Redding, California, and operates branches in Redding, Chico, and Anderson. Rogue Credit Union, based in Medford, Oregon, serves members across Oregon, Idaho, and California. The merged institution aims to strengthen financial stability and member service while maintaining a strong community presence.
“This merger positions us to better serve our members and communities for years to come,” Stephenson said. “By combining resources and expertise, we can offer enhanced products and services while maintaining the values that have guided us for decades.”
