Pedestrian Killed in Early Morning Crash on Highway 199

Josephine County, Oregon– A pedestrian was killed in a collision on Highway 199 in Josephine County early Wednesday morning, according to the Oregon State Police (OSP).

The incident occurred on March 19, 2025, at approximately 5:23 a.m. near milepost 16. Preliminary findings indicate that a northbound Ford F-150, driven by Ethan Wayne Anderson, 36, of Cave Junction, struck a pedestrian, Buck Carlos Gene Arby Ward, 58, of Crescent City, California. Ward was in the roadway for unknown reasons.

Ward was pronounced deceased at the scene. Anderson was not injured in the crash.

OSP reported that weather conditions, including fog, are being considered a contributing factor. The highway remained open during the investigation.

Illinois Valley Fire assisted OSP at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
