


Chiloquin, Oregon- Firefighters have made significant progress in containing the Copperfield Fire, with the entire perimeter now fully lined. Overnight reinforcements and newly arrived crews have increased the total personnel on-site to 534, working around the clock in both day and night shifts. The focus is now on strengthening the fire lines to ensure the fire does not breach the established containment perimeter.
As of the latest report, the fire has burned through 3,656 acres and remains 0% contained, according to the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC). Crews are actively identifying and addressing hot spots around the fire area to prevent any potential flare-ups.
Efforts to clear hazardous trees along the Sprague River Highway have been completed, allowing the highway to reopen to the public. However, the highway will be subject to a reduced speed limit starting at 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4th. Motorists are advised to exercise caution due to the increased presence of fire traffic in the area.
Updated evacuation orders and warnings have been issued. Residents in the following areas are affected as of 9/3/24 at 10:30p:
- Level 3: Go Now: KLU-E061, KLU-E063A, KLU-E062, KLU-E063A-A
- Level 2: Get Set: KLU-E064A, KLU-E073, KLU-E063A-B, KLU-E111-B
- Level 1: Get Ready: KLU-E060A, KLU-E035B, KLU-E060E
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as firefighting efforts intensify to bring the fire under control.
