Jackson County Residents Alerted to Scam Calls from Fake Oregon State Troopers

Medford, Oregon- The Oregon State Police have issued a warning to residents following multiple reports of individuals receiving calls from scammers impersonating Oregon State Troopers.

The impostors have been attempting to extract sensitive financial information from their targets, including bank account and credit card details. Oregon State Police emphasized that they do not request bank account information, credit card information, or any other form of payment information over the phone. Investigators will also never ask for personal information required to access financial institutions.

Authorities are urging the public to be vigilant and to educate loved ones, particularly those who may be more vulnerable, about these scams. It is crucial to remember that law enforcement agencies will not attempt to resolve arrest warrants or other legal matters through financial transactions, especially over the phone. Residents are advised never to provide any financial payment information over the phone, whether on their own behalf or for a family member, in response to such calls.

Oregon State Police acknowledged the significant challenges investigators face in locating and arresting suspects involved in these scams. Nonetheless, they encourage victims to report incidents to their local police agency.

For additional information or to report a scam, residents are urged to contact their local law enforcement agency.
