MEDFORD, Ore. (May. 24, 2026) — A reported shots-fired incident early Sunday morning near downtown Medford escalated into a SWAT standoff that ended with multiple people detained and one man arrested, according to police.
Officers with the Medford Police Department responded around 3:30 a.m. May 24 to the 300 block of South Holly Street after receiving reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they encountered what police described as a chaotic scene involving several people both inside and outside a residence.
Investigators said three individuals had been involved in a physical altercation outside the home. As the confrontation was breaking up, one of the individuals allegedly produced a handgun and fired several rounds into the air before retreating inside the residence.
Police recovered spent shell casings in the roadway, which investigators said corroborated witness statements.
Officers detained several people outside the residence, but additional suspects remained inside and refused repeated lawful commands to come out, police said. Authorities later identified the occupants and determined they had violent criminal histories.
The Medford Police Department’s SWAT team was called to the scene and took command of the incident. After the area was secured, SWAT officers issued announcements ordering those inside to exit the home.
The occupants eventually surrendered and were taken into custody without further incident.
During the execution of a search warrant, officers recovered the handgun believed to have been used during the shooting incident after it was allegedly discarded in the backyard. Police also located additional firearms at the residence.
Police said 45-year-old Enrique Delgadillo IV was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on multiple charges, including unlawful use of a weapon, domestic violence menacing, felon in possession of a firearm and other related offenses.
No officers or bystanders were injured during the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing. The case is identified as Medford Police incident No. 26-8370.
