Vietnam Memorial Wall to Be Dedicated on Memorial Day in NW Medford

MEDFORD, Ore. (May. 23, 2026) — A new Vietnam Memorial Wall honoring the nation’s fallen service members will be dedicated on Memorial Day at Howard Memorial Sports Park in northwest Medford, marking the completion of the first feature in a larger neighborhood park project years in the making.

The dedication ceremony is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 25, at Howard Memorial Sports Park, located at the corner of North Ross Lane and Rossanley Drive. Organizers are encouraging attendees to arrive by 12:45 p.m. and bring lawn chairs for the outdoor event.

The memorial wall, spearheaded by the Southern Oregon Veterans Benefit, is a 75% replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. The wall includes all 58,479 names from the original memorial in the same chronological order as the nation’s capital monument.

Project organizers said the Southern Oregon Veterans Benefit spent more than 15 years raising over $300,000 to bring the memorial to Medford. Additional funding came from the State of Oregon and Howard Memorial Sports Park, Inc.

The land for the memorial was donated through a partnership between Howard Memorial Sports Park, Inc. and the City of Medford. Several local contractors and businesses also contributed labor and materials to the project, including architect John Duffie of CDA, Precision Electric and Bill’s Backhoe Service.

Parking for the ceremony will be available at Logos Public Charter School, 1203 N. Ross Lane, and Rogue X, 901 Rossanley Drive.

The Vietnam Memorial Wall is the first completed element of a planned neighborhood park in the northeast corner of Howard Memorial Sports Park. The larger park project is expected to be completed in 2027.
