Medford, Oregon– Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center is set to open its doors to a massive 323,600-square-foot pavilion this February, marking a significant milestone in the realization of Asante’s ambitious 10-year growth and development plan. Organizers say the new facility, a key initiative of the AsanteForward campaign, is the result of the largest philanthropic endeavor ever undertaken in the region, with nearly 8,000 community members contributing to its creation.
Win Howard, CEO of Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center, expressed the profound impact of the pavilion, stating, “This new addition is more than a building; it’s a testament to the community’s unwavering support for Asante and our commitment to exceptional patient care.”
The new pavilion connects to the existing 6-floor patient tower, with expanded and enhanced service lines. The unveiling includes:
- State-of-the-Art Operating Suites: Featuring 20 additional operating suites, including three equipped with robotic surgery systems, each specializing in trauma, cardiovascular, neurological, orthopedic, and urology procedures. The area also houses a new Pre-anesthesia Holding and Post-anesthesia Care Unit.
- Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU): A newly designed CVICU boasts 24 beds, eight more than the previous unit, and allows for future expansion. This critical care floor specializes in treating patients with heart-related issues.
- Expanded Intensive Care Units: A new 24-bed Intensive Care Unit and a 16-bed Intermediate Care Unit, expanded by nearly 50%, cater to patients with acute medical needs. All critical care rooms can be converted into isolation rooms, a lesson learned from the pandemic.
- Olsrud Family Women’s and Children’s Hospital: Occupying the top two floors of the pavilion, this space, named after a $12 million gift from the local Olsrud family, consolidates pediatric and perinatal services. It includes a Pediatrics Unit, Pediatric Outpatient Infusion Clinic, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Family Newborn Unit, and an OB Emergency Department.
The pavilion’s west-facing entrance, Entrance A, will be the new main access point, providing an expansive drop-off location adjacent to a new four-story parking structure (P1). All parking is complimentary, and specially trained staff will assist families and patients.
Construction of the pavilion, initiated in October 2020 at a cost of $455 million, was supported through philanthropy, bonds, and capital funds. Andrea Reeder, Senior Vice President, and Chief Philanthropy Officer at Asante expressed gratitude, saying, “It takes community participation at every level, and we’re grateful for the ongoing support.”
