A rapidly developing wildfire has ignited north of the city of Rogue River, prompting an urgent response from local firefighting agencies. The blaze, which began around 5:16 p.m. today on the 13600 block of East Evans Creek Rd, quickly grew to approximately one acre in size by last report at 5:30 p.m.
Numerous fire agencies from Jackson and Josephine Counties have been dispatched to the scene, working to contain the flames and prevent further spread. The Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) has deployed Type 2 and Type 3 helicopters to aid in the firefighting efforts, with ODF Tanker 104 also en route to assist.
The situation escalated to a two-alarm fire as law enforcement units evacuated at least one threatened structure in the vicinity. The safety of residents remains a top priority, and authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure swift and coordinated action.
In a related development, an additional fire was reported earlier today near the vicinity of the incident. It remains uncertain whether the two fires are connected, and investigators are working to determine any potential links.
Medford Alert, is actively working to gather more information about the ongoing situation. As the region grapples with high temperatures reaching up to 109 degrees Fahrenheit and low humidity levels, a Red Flag Warning has been issued, underscoring the heightened risk of fire outbreaks.


At 5:59p a Level 1 Evacuation alert was issued for the areas of E Evans Creek and May Creek Rd, in Rogue River. About an hour later, crews reported forward progress of the fire was stopped. Some units have been released, however multiple crews will remain on scene for mop up work. The unofficial size of the fire was approximately an eighth of an acre.
On Tuesday morning, officials announced all previous Level 1 evacuation notices had been canceled.
