Man Sentenced to Nearly 6 Years for South Medford KeyBank Robbery

MEDFORD, Ore. (Sep. 10, 2026) — A Medford man who robbed a KeyBank on East Barnett Road in July was sentenced to 70 months in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree robbery, the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday.

Anthony James Blank, 44, pleaded guilty to the charge Thursday afternoon and was sentenced by Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Laura Cromwell to five years and 10 months in prison, followed by three years of post-prison supervision. He was also ordered to pay restitution.

The prison sentence was imposed under Measure 11, meaning Blank must serve the full 70-month sentence without the possibility of early release.

According to prosecutors, Blank traveled to the KeyBank on East Barnett Road on the afternoon of July 30. Before entering the bank, he changed his clothing in an attempt to conceal his identity.

Blank was wearing a medical mask and a Taco Bell visor when he approached a teller and handed over a note written on a fake $100 bill. The note stated, “I have a gun. Put the money in the bag. No dye packs, hurry up.”

The teller complied and gave Blank $295. He then fled the bank on a scooter.

During the investigation, the Medford Police Department released surveillance images of the robbery on Facebook. A Jackson County Community Justice probation officer positively identified Blank as the person depicted in the images.

Investigators subsequently obtained a search warrant, authorized by Cromwell, for Blank’s apartment. During the search, police found several pieces of evidence prosecutors said linked Blank to the robbery, including the shirt he had been wearing before entering the bank and the Taco Bell visor and shirt he changed into before the robbery.

Although Blank claimed in the robbery note that he had a gun, investigators were unable to determine whether he actually possessed a firearm during the robbery.

During an interview with investigators, Blank confessed to the robbery but denied having a firearm. He told investigators that before his arrest, he spent the stolen money on food, video poker and a motel room.

The conviction marks Blank’s second conviction for second-degree robbery. In 2018, he was convicted in Jackson County Circuit Court of robbing the Crown Market in Medford while armed with a knife.

The Jackson County District Attorney’s Office credited the Medford Police Department for its work on the investigation and the FBI for its assistance.
