
MEDFORD, Ore. (Jun. 26, 2026) — The fifth annual Southern Oregon Pacific Islander Summer Celebration will return to North Medford High School on Sunday, June 28, bringing a full day of cultural performances, educational workshops, community resources and family-friendly activities that celebrate the rich traditions of Pacific Island communities.
The free event, organized by the Samoa Pacific Development Corporation, is open to the public and is designed to foster cultural awareness while connecting families with local organizations and services.
Doors open at noon, when vendors and community booths begin welcoming attendees. An opening ceremony is scheduled for 12:30 p.m., followed by a variety of cultural workshops, performances and raffles throughout the afternoon.

The day’s schedule includes:
- 12 p.m. – Doors open and vendors begin serving attendees.
- 12:30 p.m. – Opening ceremony.
- 1:35 p.m. – Elei workshop in the commons, where participants can learn about the traditional Samoan art of decorating fabric.
- 2:35 p.m. – Cultural performances and raffle drawings.
- 3 p.m. – Community resource panel featuring local organizations and services.
- 4 p.m. – Additional cultural performances and raffle prizes.
- 5:30 p.m. – Lei-making workshop.
- 6 p.m. – Main event featuring Pacific Island entertainment and cultural presentations.
Throughout the day, attendees can enjoy traditional music and dance performances, explore vendor booths, participate in hands-on cultural activities and connect with organizations serving Southern Oregon families.
The annual celebration is hosted by the Samoa Pacific Development Corporation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening Pacific Islander communities through education, cultural preservation, leadership development and community outreach. The organization works to promote opportunities for Pacific Islanders while preserving cultural traditions and building partnerships that improve health, education and economic outcomes throughout the region.
Organizers say the event has grown steadily since its inception and has become one of Southern Oregon’s premier celebrations of Pacific Island cultures. The gathering welcomes people of all backgrounds and aims to create an inclusive environment where attendees can experience the diverse traditions, music, dance and customs of Pacific Island communities.
In addition to celebrating Pacific Island heritage, the event provides an opportunity for local service providers and nonprofit organizations to share information about resources available to families throughout Southern Oregon.
