PHOENIX, Ore. (Jun. 25, 2026) — An 81-year-old Central Point woman was killed Wednesday evening after being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of a business along South Pacific Highway in Phoenix, authorities said.
Officers with the Phoenix Police Department responded at approximately 7:04 p.m. to a report of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash in the 4400 block of South Pacific Highway.
According to police, first responders and several bystanders immediately attempted lifesaving measures, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released her identity, citing respect for the privacy of her family.
The driver, a 62-year-old Medford man operating a 2019 Toyota Tundra, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation, and officials have not released additional details about what led to the crash.
The investigation is being conducted with assistance from the Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) Team, a specialized multi-agency unit that investigates fatal and serious injury crashes. The team operates through a partnership involving the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Medford Police Department, Ashland Police Department and the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office.
Phoenix police expressed condolences to the victim’s family and thanked the bystanders who began lifesaving efforts before emergency personnel arrived.
Additional information is expected to be released as the investigation continues.
