PHOENIX, Ore. (Aug. 5, 2026) — A calm, well-mannered pit bull mix named Del is this week’s featured adoptable pet at the Jackson County Animal Shelter, where staff say the 5-year-old dog has quickly won hearts with his gentle personality and excellent behavior.
Since arriving at the shelter, Del has consistently demonstrated patience, kindness and a strong desire to please, making him an ideal companion for families or individuals looking for a dog that’s already moved beyond the energetic puppy stage.
Shelter staff describe Del as potty trained, polite and easy to walk on a leash. He patiently waits to be leashed before heading out for walks, staying close by his handler’s side. He also knows how to sit on command and is known for gazing up at people with an affectionate, eager expression, ready for whatever comes next.
Having graduated from his puppy years, Del has settled into a calm, easygoing temperament that staff say makes him a joy to be around. Rather than demanding attention, he quietly wins people over with his gentle nature and dependable manners.
Potential adopters with other dogs are encouraged to schedule a meet-and-greet to ensure a good fit between Del and any future canine companions.
Del is available for adoption at the Jackson County Animal Shelter, located at 5595 S. Pacific Highway in Phoenix. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Walk-ins are welcome, and no appointment is required to meet adoptable animals.
