MEDFORD, Ore. (Jun. 20, 2026) — The National Weather Service in Medford has issued a Heat Advisory for much of Southern Oregon and Northern California, warning residents of potentially dangerous temperatures beginning Monday and continuing through Tuesday night.
The advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. Monday through 11 p.m. Tuesday and covers valleys and low-lying areas west of the Cascade Range. Affected locations include communities in the Rogue, Umpqua, Illinois, Shasta, Scott and Klamath River valleys, as well as portions of the western Cascade foothills, eastern Curry County and areas south of Mount Shasta.

Forecasters say daytime temperatures are expected to range from 95 to 103 degrees, while overnight temperatures will remain unusually warm, providing limited relief from the heat.
The National Weather Service warns that prolonged exposure to high temperatures can increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Older adults, young children, outdoor workers and individuals with chronic medical conditions are considered especially vulnerable during periods of extreme heat.
Officials urge residents to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids, remain in air-conditioned environments whenever possible and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Community members are also encouraged to check on relatives, neighbors and others who may be at greater risk during the heat event.

Those who must spend time outdoors are advised to wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing and schedule strenuous activities during the early morning or evening hours when temperatures are cooler.
Emergency officials remind the public to recognize the warning signs of heat-related illness and to seek immediate medical attention if symptoms of heat stroke occur.
The upcoming heat wave marks yet another potentially triple-digit stretch of hot weather across portions of Southern Oregon and Northern California.
