KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (Jun. 21, 2026) — Community leaders, housing advocates, and state officials will gather Tuesday to celebrate the grand opening of Mountainview Townhomes, a new 72-unit affordable housing development aimed at expanding housing opportunities for low-income families and individuals in Klamath Falls.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. June 23 at the development, located at 5582 Kennebeck Loop. The event will take place in the courtyard behind the community building.
Mountainview Townhomes was developed through a partnership between Stewardship Development, the Klamath Housing Authority (KHA), and Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS). All 72 homes in the complex are designated as affordable housing, addressing a growing need for attainable housing options in Southern Oregon.
“The opening of Mountainview Townhomes represents an important milestone for our community,” said Diana Otero, development director for Klamath Housing Authority. “It not only provides safe, stable homes for families but also creates opportunities for hope, connection, and a stronger sense of belonging.”
Otero said the project reflects the organization’s commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive environment while helping residents build long-term stability.
The development consists of 12 residential buildings featuring a mix of one- and two-story townhomes with one-, two-, and three-bedroom floor plans. Residents will have access to a community building, outdoor sports field, playground, fenced dog run, community garden, and onsite parking. Homes are also equipped with energy-efficient appliances and fixtures, while solar panels help reduce energy costs and improve sustainability.
Funding for the project came from a variety of public and private sources. Mountainview Townhomes received 4% Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, Oregon Affordable Housing Tax Credits, and Local Innovation and Fast Track (LIFT) funding through OHCS. Additional financing was provided through National Equity Fund, U.S. Bank, and the Network for Oregon Affordable Housing.
The Oregon Department of Energy contributed grant funding for the installation of solar panels, while Cascade Health Alliance also provided financial support for the project. Eight project-based housing vouchers were secured to assist very low-income families and individuals.
OHCS Executive Director Andrea Bell said the development represents more than just an investment in housing.
“Rural Oregon is vital to our state’s past, present, and future,” Bell said. “There is so much more at stake here than just investments in housing. It is an investment in making everyday life better, made possible by locally led, community-driven visions.”
Bell added that projects such as Mountainview Townhomes demonstrate how local partnerships can address urgent housing challenges while strengthening communities.
The opening comes as communities across Oregon continue to grapple with housing shortages and affordability challenges, particularly in rural areas where available housing options often lag behind demand.
Stewardship Development, a Eugene-based affordable housing developer, led the project with a focus on expanding housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income households. Klamath Housing Authority, established in 1976, currently serves more than 1,300 families and individuals across Klamath and Lake counties through affordable housing and self-sufficiency programs.
Officials say Mountainview Townhomes will provide stable housing opportunities for dozens of households while creating a community-oriented environment designed to support residents for years to come.
