CENTRAL POINT, Ore. (Apr. 28, 2026) — A report that a student may have had a weapon on a school bus prompted a security response Tuesday afternoon in the Central Point School District, with officials later saying the incident appears to have been a false alarm.
District officials said the report came in at about 3:57 p.m., shortly after school dismissal. In response, the Crater Campus and all district buses were immediately placed into secure status while authorities investigated.
Campus security officers, working with the Central Point Police Department, quickly located the student identified in the report and took the student into custody, according to the district.
School officials said preliminary findings indicate the report was false, but the investigation remains ongoing.
No injuries were reported, and officials did not release additional details about the student or what led to the report.
“The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority,” the district said in a statement, thanking campus security personnel, law enforcement officers and families for their patience.
The district said it would provide further updates if new information becomes available.
