MEDFORD, Ore. (Apr. 12, 2026) — A single-vehicle crash early Sunday in west of downtown Medford knocked down a power pole, caused a widespread outage and left two passengers injured, authorities said.
Officers responded to the crash at North Oakdale Avenue and West Main Street, where a driver struck a power pole, severing it at the base and bringing down power lines.
The damage triggered a large power outage in the surrounding area. Crews with Pacific Power responded and restored service to much of the area, though some customers may still be without electricity.
Two passengers in the vehicle were injured and taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver was also transported for medical care, consented to a blood draw and was later cited and released on multiple charges, including driving under the influence, third- and fourth-degree assault, reckless driving, reckless endangering and criminal mischief.
Authorities said the vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene.
Officials thanked the public for its patience as crews worked to clear the crash site and restore power.
