Fire Crews Contain Blaze at Hummingbird Lane Home in Talent

TALENT, Ore. (Apr. 12, 2026) — A structure fire that fully engulfed a home Sunday evening in Talent has been contained, with crews expected to remain on scene for several hours, officials said.

Firefighters from Jackson County Fire District 5 and Ashland Fire & Rescue responded to a reported working structure fire in the 100 block of Hummingbird Lane. The call was dispatched at 5:04 p.m., and first units arrived on scene at 5:17 p.m.

Initial 911 callers reported uncertainty about the source of the fire, with one suggesting it may have been an escaped burn pile. Additional callers soon reported that the house was fully engulfed in flames.

A visible column of smoke could be seen from the area as crews worked defensively to contain the blaze to the structure. Officials said no other homes were threatened.

By 5:45 p.m., the fire had been contained, and crews transitioned to a “can handle” status, indicating that no additional resources were needed.

Fire officials said it is believed no one was inside the home at the time of the fire. No injuries have been reported, and no further details were immediately available.

Authorities thanked neighbors who quickly reported the fire, as well as mutual aid partners and crews from across the region who assisted or backfilled other emergency calls during the response.

Residents were asked to avoid the area during the incident to allow access for emergency vehicles.
