Man Arrested After High-Speed Pursuit Along Redwood Highway

GRANTS PASS, Ore. (Mar. 31, 2026) — A 24-year-old man was arrested early Tuesday following a high-speed pursuit involving multiple law enforcement agencies in Josephine County, authorities said.

The incident began at approximately 1:53 a.m. on March 31, when deputies attempted to stop a spray-painted black vehicle for a traffic violation on Redwood Highway near Glendon Road, according to the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office. The driver failed to yield and fled northbound, initiating a pursuit.

Deputies deployed spike strips near Wonder, successfully striking the vehicle, but the driver continued north despite damage. Authorities said the vehicle’s front driver-side tire came apart near milepost 10, yet the suspect continued driving on three tires.

Additional spike strips were deployed multiple times before the vehicle was finally brought to a stop near Elmer’s Restaurant on Grants Pass Parkway.

The driver then fled on foot but was apprehended after a short pursuit involving deputies and officers from the Grants Pass Police Department. The Oregon State Police also assisted in the incident.

The suspect was identified as Anthony Lynn Foster, 24. He was taken into custody and lodged at the Josephine County Jail.

Foster faces multiple charges, including felony and misdemeanor eluding, reckless driving, possession of a controlled substance involving fentanyl, felon in possession of a weapon, driving while suspended, third-degree escape, and a parole violation.

No injuries were reported.
