Interstate 5 Delays Reported Near Ashland as Crash Closes U.S. 101

MEDFORD, Ore. (Feb. 17, 2026) — Winter weather is slowing travel on Interstate 5 near the Oregon-California border, while a separate crash has closed a portion of U.S. 101 on the south Oregon coast, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.

On Interstate 5 at milepost 11, between Ashland and the Oregon-California border, motorists should expect delays due to winter driving conditions. ODOT said crews are intermittently holding traffic to allow snowplows to clear the highway.

Drivers are urged not to attempt alternate routes to bypass Interstate 5. Secondary roads in the area are not maintained for through traffic and may be unsafe in winter conditions.

Meanwhile, U.S. 101 at milepost 247 is closed approximately three miles south of the intersection with Coos Bay–Roseburg Highway due to a crash. The closure is affecting traffic south of Coos Bay.

Officials advised motorists to use caution, expect delays and consider alternate routes or postponing travel. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.

UPDATE: ODOT reports U.S. 101 has fully reopened.
