Boomfest Fireworks at Expo to End After 2026 Celebration

CENTRAL POINT, Ore. (Jan. 26, 2026) — As the nation prepares to mark its 250th birthday in 2026, Expo officials announced that this year’s Boomfest Fireworks Show will be the final Independence Day celebration held at the Jackson County Expo grounds, citing growth in surrounding neighborhoods and increasing wildfire risk.

City and Expo leaders said the decision followed a careful safety review, concluding that the longtime tradition can no longer be responsibly hosted at the site beyond 2026.

“We have been thankful for the community’s support of the Boomfest fireworks show over the years,” said Matt Samitore, Central Point’s public works director. “So let’s go out with a bang in 2026. Happy Birthday, America.”

Rob Holmbeck, manager of the Jackson County Expo, said the timing aligns with the country’s semiquincentennial while honoring decades of community celebrations.

“Boomfest has been a tradition for our community, but with continued development around the Expo and rising wildfire risks, it’s time to transition,” Holmbeck said. “We’re looking forward to celebrating our country’s 250th birthday and the many years of memories created here.”

Officials said the Expo and Jackson County Fire District No. 3 will again host a Community Fireworks Zone, where visitors may use Oregon State Fire Marshal-approved fireworks in a supervised, designated area. The Expo will also open its parking lots for public viewing of the Boomfest display.

Community leaders said additional details about future Fourth of July celebrations beyond 2026 will be announced at a later date.
