MEDFORD, Ore. (Dec 17, 2025) — A stretch of OR-62 in southern Oregon was closed due to downed trees, prompting transportation officials to urge drivers to seek alternate routes.
According to the Oregon Department of Transportation, OR-62 is closed between mileposts 44 and 65, about 21 miles west of the west boundary of Crater Lake National Park. The closure affects the area between Prospect and east of Union Creek. No estimated time for reopening was immediately available.
ODOT said the closure is part of a broader impact across the High Cascades Pass region of southwest Oregon. Additional closures are in place on OR-138 from west of Toketee to the U.S. 97 junction, spanning mileposts 58 to 99, and on OR-230 from Union Creek to OR-138 at the Diamond Lake Junction.
Transportation officials advised motorists to use alternate routes and to be prepared for possible delays and temporary closures on other mountain passes in southern Oregon due to similar conditions.
