MEDFORD, Ore. (Dec 17, 2025) — Construction is underway on a new federal courthouse at Northgate Office Park, a project that was approved under the office park’s master plan several years ago, city officials said.
The two-story building will total 57,040 square feet, according to permit documents. The building permit application lists the project’s valuation at $14,645,342.
Because the courthouse was included in the previously approved master plan for Northgate Office Park, the project did not require separate recent agenda action, City of Medford Planner Kelly Akin told Medford Alert News. At one point, a new hotel was discussed for the lot, but that never materialized and the US Government leased the land from developers.
The new facility comes as the federal government moves to sell the existing federal courthouse in downtown Medford. The current courthouse, which has long housed federal court operations and related offices, has been identified as surplus property and is being prepared for sale as part of a broader federal effort to consolidate facilities.
Once the new courthouse is completed, federal court operations are expected to transition from the downtown location to the Northgate Office Park site. Details about the timeline for the move and the future use of the downtown courthouse site have not yet been announced.
Northgate Office Park is located in north Medford and has seen continued development in recent years, with the new courthouse representing one of the largest public-sector projects currently under construction in the area.
