ASHLAND, Ore. (Dec 8, 2025) — Mt. Ashland Ski Area has postponed its planned Dec. 13 opening day indefinitely due to a lack of snowfall, the resort announced this week.
Resort officials said webcams and on-mountain observations confirm there is currently no snowpack in place. The ski area requires roughly 2.5 feet of snow and about three days of preparation time before it can safely open terrain to the public.
“With just days until our target opening day, we have to make the tough call to delay opening day indefinitely,” the announcement said. “Our team is ready as soon as we’ve received enough of a base to welcome you all back.”
The resort encouraged winter enthusiasts to “do your snow dances” and “pray to Ullr” while they wait for conditions to improve, noting staff are prepared to move quickly once storms arrive.
In the meantime, Mt. Ashland is offering merchandise at its downtown office and gift cards for purchase, allowing visitors to “give the gift of an experience” even though lift tickets are not yet available.
The ski area said it hopes to share a more optimistic update soon, depending on weather patterns in the coming days.
