Suspect Arrested in Series of Northwest Medford Arson Fires

MEDFORD, Ore. (Nov 26, 2025) — A 45-year-old woman is in custody after a string of early morning arson fires broke out across northwest Medford on Wednesday, prompting a large multi-scene response from police and fire officials.

Medford Police said the first fire was reported around 4 a.m. at the Jack in the Box near North Pacific Highway and Table Rock Road. Crews quickly extinguished the flames, and damage to the building was minimal.

Two hours later, at about 6 a.m., officers were dispatched to Lynn Road near North Pacific Highway, where they found three vehicles fully engulfed in flames. Investigators determined the incident was consistent with arson. Police deployed a drone to survey the area for additional fires or possible suspects.

The drone soon located another active fire at Wild River Brewing on North Pacific Highway. As officers headed to that scene, they spotted yet another fire burning near a residence on Berrydale Road.

While canvassing the area around the latest fire, officers contacted a woman—identified as Tina Marie Fonseca—who was seen walking away from the location. Police said Fonseca fled on foot but was caught after a brief pursuit.

Fonseca was booked into the Jackson County Jail on five counts of first-degree arson and six counts of reckless burning.

Medford Police credited the Medford Fire Department for its rapid response and the involvement of its fire investigation team, which they said was instrumental in resolving the case.
