Three Missing Children from Bend Safely Located in Southern Oregon

Missing Bend Children

Klamath County, Oregon- Three young children who were reported missing earlier this week from Bend have been safely located in Klamath County following a coordinated recovery effort led by the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office and assisted by the Oregon State Police.

The children—3-year-old Ethan Biven, 2-year-old Dale Beaver, and 1-year-old Isabella Beaver—had last been seen with their mother, Desirae Gross, on July 22, 2025. The Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS), Child Welfare Division, believed the children could be at risk and had issued a request for public assistance in locating them to assess their safety.

Law enforcement began searching for the family in the Bend area, where they were believed to be staying at a houseless encampment along North Highway 97. As the investigation progressed, officials tracked the family to a residence in neighboring Klamath County.

On Friday, Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Josh Spano and an Oregon State Police trooper traveled to Klamath County to make contact. After over an hour of non-confrontational negotiation, Gross agreed to turn over custody of the children to authorities. The transfer occurred peacefully and without incident. The children were then placed in the care of ODHS.

Throughout the week, DCSO had been assisting ODHS with locating the children and ensuring their welfare. The case was handled with caution and sensitivity due to the children’s ages and the potential for emotional trauma. No arrests have been announced in connection with the case, and no further details are being released at this time to protect the privacy of the children and the integrity of the investigation.

Each of the children had been the subject of a missing child alert issued by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children under case number 2057007.
