Near Medford, Oregon– On Sunday afternoon, fire crews responded to a fire at a manufactured home in the 2600 block of Glory C Road. The fire, which was reported by a neighbor, resulted in damage to the living room and kitchen before being brought under control.
According to the Medford Fire Department, the neighbor confirmed that no one was inside the home before calling 9-1-1. The first engine arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the front of the home. Crews quickly extinguished the fire, removed smoke from the structure, and confirmed that the fire had not spread to other areas.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Early indications suggest it may have been related to an electronic device that was charging while the homeowner was away.
“Consider only charging electronics when present, especially those powered by lithium-ion batteries,” the department advised in a fire prevention statement.
Jacksonville Fire Department and Jackson County Fire District No. 5 coordinated their efforts to contain the fire and prevent further damage. No injuries were reported.
