Local Electrician Stabs Suspect After Unprovoked Attack in Eagle Point

Eagle Point, Oregon- Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) detectives are investigating an assault that led to a stabbing this morning in rural Eagle Point. Initial findings suggest the incident was a case of self-defense.

At 8:31 a.m., Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon (ECSO) 911 Dispatch received a report of a stabbing in the 2100 block of Rogue River Drive. JCSO deputies responded along with Jackson County Fire District 3 and Mercy Flights. Deputies secured the scene, and the injured suspect was transported to a local hospital by a Mercy Flights ambulance.

According to investigators, a commercial electrician was working in the area when he was approached and assaulted by a man without provocation. The electrician used a pocket knife to defend himself, injuring the suspect. No other individuals were involved in the altercation.

The suspect underwent surgery for superficial wounds and is in stable condition. Charges are pending review by the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office. The suspect’s name will be released once charges are filed.

JCSO detectives are continuing the investigation. Officials say no additional information is available at this time.
