Klamath County, Oregon- On Monday evening, the Oregon State Police (OSP) responded to a fatal single-vehicle crash on Highway 66 near milepost 53 in Klamath County. The incident occurred at approximately 7:46 p.m.
According to the preliminary investigation, a westbound Mini Cooper operated by 45-year-old William Matthew McFall of Klamath Falls crossed the center line, left the roadway from the eastbound lane, and collided with a tree. McFall was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The crash temporarily impacted highway traffic for about 30 minutes as OSP conducted an on-scene investigation with assistance from the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT).
The Oregon State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is involved in the investigation. The CRU specializes in examining fatal and critical injury collisions throughout the state, using advanced measuring techniques and small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) to reconstruct crash scenes. The unit includes accredited collision reconstructionists and technical investigators.
