Medford, Oregon- The National Weather Service has issued two advisories for parts of southern Oregon, highlighting potential weather-related risks from tonight through Sunday morning.
Wind Advisory
A Wind Advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. Friday evening to 10 a.m. PST Sunday for higher terrain areas, including the Kalmiopsis Wilderness, the Rogue/Umpqua Divide, and the foothills of the Siskiyous and Cascades. Winds are expected to range between 15 to 25 mph, with gusts reaching up to 40 mph.
The strong winds could lead to unsecured objects being blown around, downed tree limbs, and isolated power outages. Drivers, especially those operating high-profile vehicles, are advised to exercise caution on the roads.
Cold Weather Advisory

A Cold Weather Advisory is in place until January 27 at 10:00 a.m., affecting eastern Curry County, Josephine County, and Jackson County. This includes the cities of Grants Pass, Cave Junction, Medford, and Ashland. Temperatures are expected to drop as low as 9°F, posing a significant risk of frostbite and hypothermia for individuals exposed to the cold without proper protection.
Expired Air Stagnation Advisory
An Air Stagnation Advisory that was previously in effect has now expired.
Safety Measures
Residents in affected areas are advised to:
• Secure outdoor objects that could be displaced by strong winds.
• Limit time outdoors to avoid frostbite or hypothermia.
• Keep pets indoors where possible.
• Use caution when driving, particularly in windy conditions.
These weather patterns are expected to ease by late Sunday morning. Local authorities encourage everyone to prepare accordingly and remain alert to changing conditions.
