Grants Pass, Oregon– An investigation into a December 17, 2024, shooting incident at an apartment complex on Rogue River Highway has led to the arrest of four individuals on multiple charges of attempted murder.
On the evening of the incident, at approximately 9:27 p.m., the Grants Pass Police Department received multiple reports of gunfire in the 1400 block of Rogue River Highway. Officers from the Grants Pass Police Department, Oregon State Police, and the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, along with emergency personnel from Grants Pass Fire/Rescue and American Medical Response, promptly responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers determined that the suspects had fled the area in a vehicle. A thorough search of the apartment complex revealed that, while no individuals had been struck by gunfire, six residents in two separate apartments were at significant risk. Investigators concluded that minor changes in bullet trajectories could have resulted in fatalities or serious injuries. As a result, the case was classified as an attempted murder investigation.
The Grants Pass Police Criminal Investigation Division prioritized the case, dedicating significant resources to identifying the perpetrators. Over two weeks, detectives and patrol officers conducted interviews, collected evidence, and pursued leads, logging hundreds of hours in the process.
The investigation led to the identification and arrest of four suspects, who are now in custody at the Josephine County Jail. The charges against each include six counts of attempted murder and six counts of unlawful use of a weapon. The suspects are:
• William Michael, 32, of Grants Pass
• Joseph Treetop, 20, of Josephine County
• Easton Foley, 18, of Josephine County
• Austin Shaw-Rideout, 18, of Josephine County
The investigation was supported by several agencies, including the United States Marshals Service Pacific Northwest Violent Task Force (Medford Division), Oregon State Police Crime Lab, Rogue Area Drug Enforcement Team, and the Josephine County District Attorney’s Office.
In a statement, the Grants Pass Police Department expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts of all involved agencies, highlighting the importance of inter-agency partnerships in resolving complex cases.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to process evidence and prepare the case for prosecution.
