Near Eagle Point, Oregon- Firefighters from the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) and Jackson County Fire District 3 successfully contained a wildfire near the intersection of Highway 234 and Agate Road on Monday. The fire, initially estimated to cover two to three acres, prompted an aggressive response from crews.
The blaze, located in an area previously impacted by a bulldozer line, allowed firefighters to quickly gain control. By 2:30 PM, the fire was fully wet lined, meaning water had been applied to the surrounding vegetation to prevent further spread. Crews continued to dig additional lines to strengthen containment efforts.
The fire’s finally estimated acres burned is at 4 acres, and mop-up operations are now underway. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Officials continue to remind the public that despite this successful containment, fire danger remains high in the region due to ongoing warm and dry conditions. Residents are urged to follow current fire regulations to help prevent future wildfires.
