Red Flag Warning Issued for Greater Medford Region

RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM THIS EVENING TO 11 AM TUESDAY FOR EAST WIND WITH POOR OVERNIGHT RH RECOVERY AND STRONG GUSTY WIND AND LOW RH FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES 621, 622 and 623.

The National Weather Service in Medford has upgraded the Fire Weather Watch to a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect from 8 PM this evening to 11 AM Tuesday.

IMPACTS… Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.

AFFECTED AREA… Fire weather zones 621, 622 and 623. This includes the Siskiyou Mountains, portions of the Rogue River National Forest in the Eastern Rogue Valley region and the Winema National Forest of westernmost Klamath County nearest the Southern Oregon Cascades.

WIND…Tonight into Tuesday morning, east winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

HUMIDITY…Relative humidity recoveries tonight into Tuesday morning of only 20 to 35 percent.

PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… Follow all fire restrictions. You can find your county’s emergency sign up form as well as links to fire restrictions at weather.gov/medford/wildfire. One less spark, one less wildfire.

A Red Flag Warning is issued when forecasters identify weather conditions that promote rapid spread of fire which may become life-threatening. This does not mean there is a fire.

These conditions are either occurring now or will begin soon. It is important to have multiple ways to receive information from authorities.
