Fire Weather Watch Issued for Greater Medford Area

FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING FOR EAST WIND WITH POOR OVERNIGHT RH RECOVERY FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES 621, 622 and 623.

The National Weather Service in Medford has issued a Fire Weather Watch, which is in effect from this evening through Tuesday morning.

◦ IMPACTS… Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.

◦ AFFECTED AREA…Fire weather zones 621, 622 and 623. This includes the Siskiyou Mountains, portions of the Rogue River National Forest in the Eastern Rogue Valley region and the Winema National Forest of westernmost Klamath County nearest the Southern Oregon Cascades.

◦ WIND…Tonight into Tuesday morning, east winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

◦ HUMIDITY… Relative humidity recoveries tonight into Tuesday morning of only 20 to 35 percent.

Follow all fire restrictions. Avoid activities that could cause sparks.

A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible during the valid watch time.

These conditions could promote the rapid spread of wildfires which could become life-threatening.
