


Tiller, Oregon- Evacuations and road closures remain in effect for residents impacted by the Dixon Fire, previously referred to as the Tiller Trail Fire. As of 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2024, the following evacuation levels have been updated:
Level 3 “GO!”
- All residences on Crume Ranch Lane.
- All residences on Devil’s Knob Road (USFS Road #1610).
- The one residence in the area of Hamlin Prairie.
Level 2 “BE SET”
- All residences on Tiller Trail Highway from the intersection of Devil’s Knob (USFS 1610) south to milepost 31 on Tiller Trail Highway. This includes all residences between these two points.
Level 1 “BE READY”
- All residences on Tiller Trail Highway from milepost 31 to milepost 34.
- All homes on Pickett Butte.
- The Pickett Butte Lookout Tower.
Residents under any level of evacuation notice or living near the fire are urged to monitor official sources for updates. Any changes to evacuation levels or fire danger will be communicated through these channels.
Red Cross Shelter and Animal Sheltering
An American Red Cross Shelter has been established at Canyonville School (124 N. Main Street, Canyonville). The shelter remains open for evacuated residents, those needing to charge electronic devices, or anyone requiring assistance. Residents needing help with evacuating or sheltering animals and livestock should contact Douglas County Animal Control at (541) 440-4471.
Sheriff Patrols and Public Safety
Sheriff Hanlin has committed to 24-hour patrols in evacuated areas. Deputies will continue to monitor these properties and will take action against any criminal activity.
Douglas Alerts – Emergency Notification System
Douglas County residents are encouraged to sign up for emergency notifications through the Douglas Alerts system at http://www.dcso.com/alerts. Residents with existing accounts should ensure their information is up to date. For assistance, call 541-440-6025 or email douglasalerts@douglascountyor.gov.
Road Closures on Tiller Trail Highway
Tiller Trail Highway remains closed at two points to all through traffic: at Tiller Trail and South Umpqua Road near the Tiller Ranger Station, and south of Devil’s Knob Road (USFS 1610). Residents who can show proof of residency beyond the closures will be permitted to pass but should expect delays. Douglas County Public Works, assisted by Jackson County Public Works, has been responding to the emergency since Saturday afternoon.
Residents are urged to stay informed and take all necessary precautions to ensure their safety as the situation evolves.
