Central Point Man Indicted in Multi-State Car Theft Ring Investigation

Central Point, Oregon- A months-long investigation led by the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office and the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Auto Theft Task Force (ATTF) has resulted in the indictment of Aric Wade Adams, 21, of Central Point, Oregon. Adams faces 16 charges related to his involvement in a multi-state car theft ring targeting high-value American muscle cars.

The investigation uncovered a sophisticated operation where the ring targeted newer models of Dodge Challengers and Chevrolet Camaros, some valued at over $70,000. Members of the ring used electronic devices to steal vehicles without original keys, after paying individuals for location information on target vehicles. These stolen vehicles were then sold through various social media platforms at significantly reduced prices. Investigators also revealed that members of this theft ring were typically armed with firearms.

The charges against Adams include one count of Robbery in the First Degree with a Firearm, two counts of Robbery in the Second Degree, and multiple counts of Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, and Theft in the First Degree. The indictment, handed down by a grand jury on July 30, 2024, follows the presentation of evidence by ATTF Deputy District Attorney Cody Linderholm.

Law enforcement officers from multiple agencies executed a search warrant at Adams’ residence in Central Point, Oregon, on August 8, 2024. Adams was arrested and transported to Multnomah County, where he was arraigned on the charges.
